Position: Polymer Coating/Adhesive Chemist

The Polymer Coating/Adhesive Chemist will be responsible for performing varied multi-task polymerizations, formulations, processing, evaluating results through various analytical instruments, monitoring stability testing on R&D batches, and assisting scientists in making qualitative and quantitative analyses of solids, liquids, or other materials used for product development activities or other work involving experimental or practical application of chemistry and related sciences. This position applies broad product development knowledge, implements project plans and prioritizes product development investments for existing and new products.

Job Responsibilities:

• Actively and positively contributes in a team environment, effectively collaborates with team members and supports team engagement initiatives.
• Investigate the formulation patterns, fundamental interaction of raw materials, actual formulations and ingredients, and the related properties of the formulation materials.
• Conduct polymerization, formulation, processing, evaluation of product properties through a variety of analytical instruments and other appropriate testing.
• Work toward technical milestones and deliver results against aggressive timelines.
• Analyze and interpret experimental results effectively to contribute to the development of new and improved products.
• Develop polymerizations, formulations and processes to support the development of new and novel products and/or optimization of existing products. 2
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

• Relevant Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, polymer science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in polymerization, polymer processing and analysis. Experience in polymer adhesive is a plus.
• Self-driven and willing to face the challenges involved in polymerizing, formulating and processing.
• Minimum of 1 year of lab experience.
• Must be a team player, have excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to interpret experimental results, be neat, organized and extremely detail oriented.
• Knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo.
• Capable of setting priorities based on a fast-paced changing environment.
