Now 3-month old Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant disaster caused by the earlier earthquake and tsunami on March 11, 2011, does not see an end to the situation as it is still unfolding and requiring caution. 
In order for our valued customers to feel secure with our products, Nitto Denko has formulated self-imposed standard for radioactive contamination control and prevention (hereinafter “Nitto Denko standard”) based on the Japanese government’s policy, and implemented it from the very beginning of this nuclear crisis. 
However, based on the radiation monitoring data recently accumulated, the government’s latest announcement identified certain accessible spots within a 30-kilometer radius of the plant, the strictly no-entry area restricted by the Japanese government. The announcement made it possible for us to procure raw materials from the suppliers located in the restricted area, given that the location is identified as accessible. 
In response to said announcement, Nitto Denko carried out radiation measurement tests on raw materials originating from said restricted area, and confirmed that their radiation levels were all within the range of Nitto Denko standards – far stricter than the Japanese government’s allowed usage. 
Nitto Denko will keep conducting radiation measurement tests on every single shipment of raw material supplies originating within an 80-kilometer radius of the Fukushima plant from now onwards under Nitto Denko’s standard, which has now been updated in accordance with Japan’s current situation.

・Nitto Denko does not manufacture, process or stock products within the Japanese government-restricted area, a 30-kilometer radius of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant.
・Nitto Denko does not use supplies originating within said restricted area.

・Nitto Denko allows manufacturing, processing or stocking of its products within a 30-kilometer radius of the Fukushima plant, given that the concerned location is identified as accessible by the Japanese government.
・Nitto Denko allows usage of supplies manufactured, processed or stocked within a 30-kilometer radius of the Fukushima plant, given that the concerned location is identified as accessible by the Japanese government. 

Likewise, the Nitto Denko standard previously subjected raw materials originating within an 80-kilometer radius but outside a 30-kilometer radius from the Fukushima plant to the radiation measurement test, while access to the items from a 30-kilometer radius was entirely prohibited. In line with the Japanese government’s latest announcement, Nitto Denko standard will now subject all raw materials from a 80-kilometer radius of the plant to measurements for their radiation level.
