For the chemical substances used by the company, we determine the risks involved, such as health hazards, potential environmental pollution, and the dangers of fire and explosion, and then perform a general evaluation of those risks to determine a level of management. Once evaluation results are in, regulations are determined independently. For example, the use of high-risk chemical substances may be prohibited, or the allowed quantity of use may be reduced.
We believe it is very important to refrain from using highly hazardous chemical substances in the initial design stage of product development. We educate those in research and product development related departments regarding this importance through conferences and training.
Those responsible for chemical substance management in the material procurement, production, distribution, and quality assurance departments must take part in our Product Risk Management Committee. It is divided into three subcommittees depending on its content, and risk reduction is carried out through educational activities in related departments.
