Transdermal System Co-developed with Teva The Fentanyl Patch Granted FDA Approval

2008.10.31

The Fentanyl Patch, which had been developed by Aveva Drug Delivery Systems, a Nitto Denko Company, and Teva, was granted approval by FDA on October 20th, 2008 EST.

The Fentanyl Patch, which license is held by Teva, will be manufactured and supplied exclusively by Aveva. Aveva (formerly Elan Transdermal Technologies) is a specialty pharmaceutical company developing and manufacturing transdermal patches, acquired by Nitto Denko in 2003.

The Fentanyl Patch is the first product to the market which utilizes both Nitto Denko's transdermal technology and Aveva's manufacturing technology. Approval and launch of the Fentanyl Patch will accelerate growth of the pharmaceutical business in the world's largest US market.

Nitto Denko is delighted to have a strong partner like Teva, which has the largest generic operation in the US.
