Transfer of Production and Sales Approval of Penles, an anesthetic patch

Nitto Denko Corporation (Head office: Kita-ku, Osaka; President: Masamichi Takemoto) announced the transfer of production and sales of Penles® (generic name: Lidocaine Tape), an anesthetic patch from Wyeth K.K. (Head office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Rune Bremberg), that had been sold by Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited (Head office: Chuo-ku, Osaka; President: Yasuchika Hasegawa). Under the agreement of all parties, production and sales approval of the product was transferred to Nitto Denko on January 15, 2007.
Sales of Penles to be produced by Nitto Denko Corporation, is scheduled to be conducted by Maruho Co., Ltd.(Head office: Kita-ku, Osaka; Representative Director and President: Koichi Takagi) from March 1, 2007.
Until March 1, when the new production and sales system commences, the sales of the product shall continue to be carried out by Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited.
All parties agreed to implement a smooth transfer to avoid any inconvenience especially in product supply and information provision to medical institutions and contracted dealers.

- Penles was jointly developed by Nitto Denko and Wyeth K.K. as a local anesthetic adhesive patch, and was first marketed in December 1994.
- Product features:
- 1) the first local anesthetic adhesive patch, containing 60% Lidocaine
2) easy to use, because it is a transdermal drug delivery patch
