Nitto Denko Corporation (the head office: Ibaraki, Osaka; the president: Mr. Masamichi Takemoto) has been involved the manufacture and sale of SPV® Series of surface protection tape for protecting metal plates and aluminum sashes during transport and processing. We are pleased to announce that the company has now developed a water dispersion adhesive and will begin using the new adhesive on all products. Because no organic solvents are used in the manufacturing process, the adhesive is applicable to green procurement. The company also plans to continue to systematically reduce the amount of organic solvents used in the adhesive manufacturing process and develop new products that are friendly to the environment.
Nitto Denko's SPV®(Surface Protection Vinyl) Series of surface protection tape is primarily widely used for protecting surface of construction metal plates, aluminum window sashes and coated steel plates from scratches and dirt.
There have recently been many requests from customers for products that are friendly to the environment. There has been a particularly high demand for reduction of volatile substances (VOC) emitted from products due to the problem of sick house syndrome. Nitto Denko is now in the process of executing its plan to reduce the amount of toxic substances discharged during the manufacturing process (voluntary plan), part of which is to study a manufacturing process that doesn't use organic solvent and gradually phase out use of organic solvents.
Amidst these circumstances, we have determined that it would be a good idea to eliminate the use of organic solvents from the manufacturing process for our SPV® Series of surface protection tape and have beaten the competition in developing a surface protection tape that uses water dispersion adhesive.

Using our newly developed water dispersion adhesive instead of conventional adhesives using organic solvents realizes low VOC, thereby meeting our customers' needs for green procurement.
Along with switching to water dispersion adhesive, we are making the adhesive linear so a single type of adhesive can be applied to objects having a wide variety of surface shapes (material, texture, etc.). As a result, the customer does not have to maintain a stock of various types and can reduce his stock.
